The historic Chester County Court House was recently renovated, and great care was taken to preserve the original historic beauty of it’s 1914 architectural detail. It displays true Southern charm as it sits with authority in the middle of Henderson, the county seat of Chester County.
The present court house was built in 1914 after the two previous court houses were lost to fire in 1891 and 1913. It houses many county offices and provides the setting for the annual Chester County Barbecue Festival and other yearly events.

The court house was used in the original production of Walking Tall, depicting the life of former McNairy County Sheriff, Buford Pusser. While visiting the court house, you may well run into one of the movie’s local extras who can tell you about the filming and Henderson's brush with Hollywood.
